The Pike County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Real Life financial literacy event for area junior high students this week at the Pike County safe Room on Quinlivan Road.

Students received colored-coded cards based on their grades, with each card representing a monthly salary.

Students with better grades received more pay. Students had to go to different tables to pay for housing, utilities, transportation, insurance, groceries, clothing and other necessities, with entertainment and vacations optional for those who could afford them.

Students who completed their rounds with money left over received a Payday candy bar, while those who went in the red received a Zero candy bar.
